Overview

Scott Elmer has represented and counseled clients in complex commercial disputes involving a broad range of issues including regulatory compliance, breach of contract, fraud, false claims, false advertising, indemnity, products liability, intellectual property, theft of trade secrets, and civil rights. Scott also has significant experience in government and internal investigations involving regulatory compliance, government contracting, federal grant compliance, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

He has hands-on leadership experience with all phases of litigation, including briefing and motions practice; discovery, including written discovery, complex e-discovery, depositions, and experts; trial preparation and trial, including witness preparation, witness examination, and mock jury exercises; and appeal.

Scott leverages this deep, wide-ranging experience to help clients achieve favorable results in litigation, arbitration, and pre-litigation disputes through cost-effective, innovative problem solving.

 Scott also has an active pro bono practice and has represented clients in civil rights cases and immigration proceedings.

 Scott spent the first six years of his legal career in the Chicago office of Jones Day, where he practiced in the Business and Tort Litigation Group. After Jones Day, he practiced for two years in the litigation department of Steptoe & Johnson LLP before joining Whitt Sturtevant in 2021.
