Chicago, IL, August 1, 2025 – Ronit Barrett has joined Whitt Sturtevant LLP as Of Counsel in its Chicago office. She brings over two decades of experience representing clients in regulatory proceedings before the Illinois Commerce Commission.
Ms. Barrett has represented utility and non-utility clients in dozens of state regulatory proceedings, recently including multi-year integrated grid and rate plan proceedings, rate design investigations, and beneficial electrification plan proceedings. She has also provided direct counsel to business professionals within utility organizations, recently serving as in-house counsel to Illinois’ largest electric utility.
Ms. Barrett has been recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, and U.S. News & World Report’s Best Lawyers. In 2018, she was featured in Crain’s Chicago Business’ “Chicago’s Notable Women Lawyers” list.
Ms. Barrett is actively involved in her community and has served on the Board of Directors for Christopher House since 2015, is a past Vice-Chair of the Chicago Bar Foundation’s Investing in Justice Campaign (2009 – 2020), and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (2011-2014). She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and she received her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. Ms. Barrett is a member of both the Illinois Bar and the California Bar (inactive).
