Overview

Hannah O’Keefe joined Whitt Sturtevant LLP in October 2025 after spending five years practicing energy and environmental law with the Federal Government. Her experience spans all phases of litigation, including briefing and arguing substantive and procedural motions, offensive and defensive discovery, taking and defending depositions, e-discovery management, working with expert witnesses, and trial practice. 
 
Hannah lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband and calico cat. She enjoys cooking, live music, and finding any excuse to spend time outside.
 

Experience

  • United States Department of Justice Attorney General’s Honors Program, four years as a litigator in the Environment and Natural Resources Division focused on defending Federal agencies against environmental claims in various district courts across the country.
    • Litigated Fifth Amendment takings claims in the Court of Federal Claims, including successfully defending the United States as first chair in a six-day bench trial.
  • United States Department of Energy’s Office of the General Counsel, supported the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations. Work centered on drafting and negotiating financial assistance agreements for federal funding of private-sector energy projects—including solar, wind, hydroelectric, BESS, and virtual power plant projects—as well as analyzing and interpreting complex statutory and regulatory energy and labor compliance issues.
